Tennessee man arrested after 18 pounds of marijuana found
Demetrie Deandre Vaugh of Tennessee has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
According to Ste. Genevieve authorities, Vaugh was driving a truck in the area of Interstate 55 and Route O and was clocked at 77 miles per hour in an area marked at 70 mph. Deputies pulled the truck over, a 1995 Ford Ranger from Texas.
Based on how the driver was acting, deputies gained consent for a search from the driver. During the search the deputies located 15 vacuum-sealed bags inside a luggage bag that contained a green vegetable substance with the smell and consistency of what deputies believed to be 18 pounds of marijuana.
Three subjects were taken into custody and are awaiting charges. Two of the three were released.
Vaugh was charged with possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $40,000 cash or surety.
