Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday and Weekend Editions for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone (573) 431-2010, FAX (573) 431-7640 or drop it off by person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.
Summer Baseball Reg. – NOW
The Farmington Merchant League is now registering players for their summer baseball leagues for boys and girls, Pre-K- 6th grade. Applications may be picked up at the Civic Center or online at www.farmington.gov and must be turned in at the Civic Center by March 29. Parents are needed as volunteer coaches for the teams. Basketball Tournament – Feb. 21-22
The Mineral Area Sports Club will be holding its 4th annual Winter Classic basketball event for boys and girls teams in grades 2-8 on February 21-22. This event has averaged more than 75 teams for the past three years. Easy online registration with a cost of $125 per team and a guarantee of at least three games. Softball Meeting – Feb. 23
The managers’ meeting for the Park Hills Men’s and Co-ed summer leagues will be held on February 23 at 6 p.m. at the Parks Office on 410 Front St. in Park Hills. For more information call 573-431-0478.
Softball Meeting – Mar. 8
The Mineral Area Girls Fast Pitch league will hold their next meeting regarding the upcoming season on March 8 at 4:00 pm in the Central High School Cellar. The league will have 8u, 10u, and 12u divisions. For more information call Ed Hart at 760-4137.
