FHS team second at regional science olympiads
The Fredericktown High School after school BASE science club team took second place at the Regional Science Olympiads Feb. 14, at Southeast Missouri State University and qualified for state competition.
Twelve FHS students competed in 19 out of the 23 events and placed in all of the events. The challenging and motivational events incorporate several disciplines including biology, chemistry, earth science, health, physics, and technology. The events not only require knowledge of science, but problem solving and science application. The Science Club meets every Wednesday after school to prepare for this event.
Science Olympiad is a national organization celebrating its 31st anniversary of striving to improve the quality of science education, create passion for science investigation, and improve recognition for those who excel in science.
The Fredericktown Science Olympiad team is coached by Bruce Asher and Wendy O’Neal.

Dynamic Planet 2nd place- Drew Pierson and Thomas Poindexter
Disease Detectives 2nd place- Mya Robbins and Kennedy Bumgardaner
