Two Big Art Exhibit postponed to today

As a result of inclement weather and the cancellation of classes at Mineral Area College Thursday, the opening reception of the Two Big Art Exhibit was postponed.

According to the Mineral Area Council on the Arts, who is sponsoring the exhibit, they will hold the opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Fine Arts Theater Lobby.

The art exhibit will feature two Mineral Area College art students, Meagan Buchanan and Zach Carrow.

Although the two are classmates, their work is quite different from each other. Buchanan uses wildly distorted images live in their own fantastical, prismatic, humor-filled world. Carrow prefers to paint still-life in an aggressive style characterized by expressive strokes and bold color choices.

Both artists work will be on display in the Fine Arts Theater lobby and building through May.
