MBCA Releases All-State Teams

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association has released its 2015 all-state basketball teams, and the state champion Central Lady Rebels are prominently featured.

Post player Sydney Skaggs averaged a double-double throughout her senior season, and was named Class 3 Player of the Year. Junior teammate and sister Megan Skaggs also earned all-state honors.

Josh Mapes was named Class 3 Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Rebels to the first basketball state title in school history and a 30-1 overall record.

Three athletes from the MAAA Conference were selected to the boys’ all-state list. Two of them are now the all-time leading scorers at their respective schools.

Senior center Dylan Coleman helped Potosi capture its first district crown since 1982. Farmington center Jordan Ankrom became a repeat member one season after leading the Knights to the Class 4 final four.

Valle Catholic achieved unprecedented postseason success, reaching the Class 2 quarterfinal round, and Daniel Bergtholdt was rewarded for his stellar senior campaign.

Academic all-state teams were also announced Friday, and include North County senior Kourtney Kekec, Potosi senior Emily Camillo and West County senior Clayton Brinkley.

Kekec and the Lady Raiders notched their first playoff win in program history against Dexter before falling to MICDS in the Class 4 quarterfinals.

The final state polls have the Central girls at No. 1 and boys at No. 7 in Class 3. The Valle Catholic boys landed at No. 10 in Class 2.
