Donald Gary Jacob
FARMINGTON — Donald Gary Jacob, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away April 2, 2015, at his home at the age of 73. He was born at Ferndale, CA, on March 9, 1942, son of the late Marie Silva Jacob and Charles Jacob.
Donald began his college education while serving in the armed forces with the Strategic Air Command at Glasgow Air Force Base in Montana. He was honorably discharged in 1965. He later received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts in Communications Theory from the University of North Dakota. He later received a Doctor of Education, Ed.D. degree from the University of Southern California. He also graduated from a Program for Senior Executives in State Government at Harvard University and the Kennedy School of Government in 1992. Donald was united in marriage with Nancy Jean Cozean in 1976. In 1980 they moved to Poughkeepsie where Donald began a career with the Pfizer, Inc. Company where he served as an experienced senior executive who managed diverse teams in the Fortune 100 and non-profit sectors. Among his professional accomplishments was his role as Vice President of External Affairs at Pfizer, Inc., in New York. Donald was an enthusiast of the great outdoors and loved fly fishing and rock collecting with his family as well as traveling to parks and scenic areas throughout the United States and Canada.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy and daughter, Josephine Jacob and her husband, Oscar Felipe Montero of Queens, NY; daughters Jaynne Jacob Hallstrom and husband, Kent of Alexandria MN; Janelle Jacob and her children Janzen, Jezyka and PFC Justin Jacob of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Craig Jacob of Carlotta, CA; sister, Leslie and husband, Jack Salvage of Fortune, CA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14, at The Reformed Church in Poughkeepsie. There will be a gathering of friends and family at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday April 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Cozean Chapel.
