Farmington school board meets today

The Farmington R-7 Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. as two board members take the oath after winning a seat during the April election.

Delores Howard and Jeff Lawson, both who were re-elected, will take the oath of office prior to the regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

In addition, the board will re-organize with nominations for president, which is presently held by Howard Hoehn, vice president, presently held by Howard and board treasurer, presently held by Lawson.

The board will reconvene at 5 p.m. for its regularly scheduled meeting where it will address an agenda that includes recognition of students, staff and faculty as well and update from Mindy Southern with the district’s education technology department.

In addition, Mark Krause, director of operations, will give the board an update on bond issue projects throughout the district.

The board will also hear from Don Eaton, director of business services, on the district’s third quarter budget and his recommendation for Anthem Health Marketplace, as the health insurance provider for the district.

During the meeting, John Bacon will ask the board to consider and approve a co-op agreement that would allow St. Paul Lutheran High School, who meet MSHSAA and Farmington eligibility requirements, to participate on the Farmington High School Swim Team. Swimming is a new sport at Farmington, starting with competitive swimming in the 2015-16 school year.

The meeting will be held at the board office 1022 Ste. Genevieve Ave. and is open to the public.
