Soccer Cats fall to Kelly, Festus
The Lady Cats soccer team lost a pair of defensive struggles, last week to fall to 1-13 on the season.
Wednesday, the Lady Cats hosted the Kelly Lady Hawks. Fredericktown lost, 1-0.
Kelly scored the only goal of the match, following a hand ball against the Lady Cats. Kelly was awarded a free kick and scored as the ball just barely grazed goalkeeper Caitlyn Allgier’s outstretched hands on its way into the net.
For the match, Kelly had 20 shots on goal and the Lady Cats had three (two by Madison Ikemeier and one by Hayley Hinkle). Caitlyn Allgier had 15 saves in goal and Cheyenne Cole had 5.
In JV action, the Lady Cats lost to Kelly 2-0, and Cole recorded 15 saves.
Thursday, the Lady Cats traveled to Festus to take on the Lady Tigers.
According to FHS Coach D.J. McFadden, the game was a defensive showdown for 72 of the 80 minutes, but Festus was able to find the net twice in the final eight minutes of the match to earn the 2-0 victory.
Festus ended the game with 11 shots on goal while the Lady Cats had four (Ikemeir, Madisyn Sharrock, Raylyn Dodd, and Hinkle). Allgier had ten saves and Cole had one.
In JV action, the Cats and Tigers battled to a 0-0 tie, as Cole stopped seven shots.
The Lady Cats wrap a busy week of four matches in five days, as they host Cape Central, today and play at De Soto, Friday.
