Operation Sadie meets
Operation Sadie will meet for its annual meeting at Ste. Genevieve American Legion Post 150 Hall. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 12.
Operation Sadie is a nonprofit organization, formed close to 21 years ago in opposition to a proposal. There are roughly a dozen active members.
The organization meets twice each year to monitor activity at the property on Lime Kiln Road. This property is monitored to make sure there are no subsequent attempts to develop a landfill.
A proposal to develop a landfill was rejected in 1998 by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources because the land was unsuited for use as an environmentally sound solid waste disposal.
The land was once owned by Sadie Govero, giving the organization its name.
