AV Mountain Music Festival returns

The spring edition of the Arcadia Valley Mountain Music Festival takes place Friday through Sunday on the Iron County Courthouse grounds in Ironton. The popular bi-annual event has grown in recent years and is sponsored by the Arcadia Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Besides offering a combination of live bluegrass, country and gospel music, the free and family friendly event also features a number of craft booths, food and product vendors and amusements for the children.

Added to the spring event is a Classic Car Show on Saturday featuring entries from the year 1972 and older in 20 classes that include stock car, modified car, trucks (both stock and custom), street rods, Corvettes, Mustangs and special interest vehicles. Registration is from 8 a.m. – noon with a fee of $15 per vehicle. An awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. For additional information call 573-546-2175 or 573-546-2992.

Featured musical acts this weekend include The Dalton Gang, The Banksters, Book of Ruth and the Arcadia Valley Jamboree Boys. Also performing will be solo artist Eric Thompson on Saturday and Sunday, as well as The Ozark Spirit Cloggers.

An always popular attraction is the chicken and dumplin’ fundraising dinner available for purchase at noon Sunday.

“We’re looking forward to another wonderful Mountain Music Festival,” said Karen Seifert, chamber president. “The Classic Car Show is adding another dynamic to the weekend. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the rain will stay away and the weather will be beautiful for the whole weekend.”
