Campus is part of farm garden tour
The Jefferson College-Hillsboro campus will be one of several sites across Jefferson County as part of the annual Kress Farm Garden Preserve tour hosted by the University of Missouri Extension and the Jefferson County Master Gardeners on June 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
With its acres of rolling hills and winding drives, the grounds are an ideal setting and backdrop to numerous gardens.
The Master Gardeners of Jefferson County have maintained the college’s picturesque gardens on the Hillsboro campus for 11 years. Members will serve as guides and answer questions. The large circular garden is the centerpiece with a variety of plantings that offer continuous bloom. Other gardens showcase wildflowers, perennials, annuals, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs. The old fashioned sundial garden and the 18 colorful container gardens are also included on the campus tour.
Tickets are on sale now for $10 and include viewing nine other gardening sites across Jefferson County. For more information, contact Suzie of Kress Farm at 314-799-1594 or stop by the University of Missouri Extension Office at 301 Third Street in Hillsboro to pick up tickets during business hours.
