Climber sustains traumatic injuries

A man sustained traumatic injuries Saturday evening after falling while rock climbing at Pickle Springs in Ste. Genevieve County.

Steve Young, assistant chief of the Wolf Creek Fire Department, said the man was rock climbing with other members of a group prepping for the American Ninja Warrior competition.

Young said the man reportedly slipped and fell roughly 10 feet down onto a rocky area. He was conscious when emergency responders arrived on the scene.

He was flown by Air Evac Lifetime to a hospital in St. Louis.

Details on the man’s name, age, and where he is from were not available. Young said he also did not have any information on where the man was taken.

The incident occurred at about 7:01 p.m. Pickle Springs is located in the area of Route AA and Dorlac Road.
