Programs receive funds from PEC tennis tournament
Dr. John Fitz presented $400 checks to the Farmington High School and North County High School tennis coaches from the Precision Eye Care Tennis Tournament (PECTT) held June 25-28 at Farmington’s Engler Park.
“Precision Eye Care is proud to sponsor this community tournament that welcomes players from all over the region,” Fitz commented. “We are happy to donate all the entry fees to the local tennis programs because tennis is a lifetime sport, and we want to encourage players to continue with this sport for the rest of their lives. They just need to ‘keep their eyes on the ball.’”
FHS Coach Andrew Canter and NCHS Coach Mary Hoehn accepted the checks on behalf of the tennis teams. Due to the partnership between the Farmington School District and the city of Farmington, the FHS team utilizes the new courts at Engler Park for practices and matches and hosted the Boys Tennis Sectional Tournaments this past spring. NCHS tennis practices and plays at the NCHS courts adjacent to the baseball field on the school campus.
