Soccer Cats fall to St. Clair, Saxony Lutheran
The Fredericktown High School Soccer Team lost 3-1, at St. Clair August 25.
Coach Brandon Hale said the Cats “came out composed and played great defensively.”
The Cats trailed 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, a goal by Freshman Colton Jordan, assisted by Sophomore Logan Watson evened the score.
Hale said, with eight minutes left in the match, Junior Goalkeeper Cody Hoar left the match due to injury.
“St. Clair wasted no time and scored twice,” Hale said.
September 1, the Cats hosted Saxony Lutheran. The visitors took advantage of big first half to win, 5-2.
Saxony “came out strong and scored early on in the game,” Hale said.
The Crusaders led 4-0 at halftime.
Hale said the “Blackcats came out strong with multiple adjustments to defense and offense” to start the second half. Jordan scored twice with Senior Stephen Burrows assisting on the latter goal.
“At the half we discussed areas we needed to focus and improve upon, Hale explained. “Winning the second half was a big part of our discussion. We met that goal. We will continue working on footwork in the upcoming days and being strong from the start.”
Hale added, “Freshman Colton Jordan has been impressive offensively on the field, as has senior Carter Hovis. We are working on and learning new defensive strategies and will continue to improve. We are at the start of our season, and I’m confident we have a bright season ahead.”
