The Fredericktown High School Army JROTC Rifle Teams hosted the New Madrid County Central High School Army JROTC Rifle Teams in the only home ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ match of the fall season (Sporter Division) held at the Fredericktown Missouri National Guard Armory, Oct. 8.
Fredericktown’s JROTC varsity squad was a 148-point winner over NMCC’s squad (1172-1024 total points) while FHS’s junior varsity squad was a 171-point winner over New Madrid County’s B squad (986-815).
The varsity shooting squad’s Cadet Krystal Cox finished in first place amassing 258 total points; Cadet Brendenn Todd was second with 253 total points, and Cadet Tyler Henson finished with 240 total points for a third place finish. Placement Medallions were presented to these three cadets. They also took most of the individual medals in the specific firing positions. Cadet Todd won three individual medals, Cadet Cox was awarded three individual medals, and Cadet Henson finished with two individual medals. Cadets Julia Sikes (208 total points) and Jessica Asher (213 total points) also competed on the varsity squad for this event.
The junior varsity squad’s Ryska Berkbuegler took top honors with 226 total points, followed by Mitchell Tuller in second place with 218 points, and Kayle Genaro with 211 points for third place honors. The other two team members competing in this event were Cadets Ethan Howard (196 points) and Alaniss LaChance (135 points).
The next ‘shoulder to shoulder’ competition will be at 3:30 p.m., Oct. 15 at the Farmington National Guard Armory, hosted by the Farmington Air Force JROTC Cadets. The Blackcat JROTC Battalion will field a Varsity and Junior Varsity Team for this competition.
