UPCOMING LOCAL SPORTS EVENTS
Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday and Weekend Editions for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone (573) 431-2010, FAX (573) 431-7640 or drop it off by person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.
Softball Try-outs – Oct. 18
The Park Hills Rage, an 18U girls’ fast-pitch select team, will be holding try-outs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 18 at the Park Hills Sports Complex. Only experienced players should try-out. For more information contact Mark Politte at 573-915-4333.
Golf Tournament – Nov. 7
Farmington High School will be holding a Chili Open Golf Tournament at Crown Pointe Golf Club on November 7 as a fundraiser for their golf teams. There will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start with an 18 hole, Par 3, two person scramble format with a chili lunch provided. The cost is $120 per team which includes skins, and hole sponsorships are available for $100 each. Persons can sign up at the Crown Pointe Pro Shop or email Brad Downs at bdowns@farmington.k12.mo.us. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. the day of the tournament. Chili donations are welcome and can be delivered to the 19th hole by 11 a.m.
