Stockhoff gets new look

Some renovations have been completed recently and are more are forthcoming at Stockhoff Nursing Home.

The idea is to make it look and feel more like home to both visitors and residents, according to Director of Nursing Kristen Starkey.

“Two communities have been renovated and we still have one left,” Starkey said.

The upgrades include texturized paint in warm colors, wood-like flooring, appealing wall hangings, and decorations. Residents can now utilize the kitchenette, spa, and baths in their own community. The spas have a bath tub which fills up with warm water in under two minutes, and relaxing jets are controlled with a flick of a switch.

In addition, the heat lamps send beams of warmth down from the ceiling while the bather views the room’s flat screen television. All of this royal treatment would not be complete without the towel warmers. The spas and showers are for both men and women with the highlight of the shower rooms being heated tile floors.

“We wanted to make the bath warm and inviting, a place that residents want to come,” Starkey said.

Lighted decorations adorn the fireplace in the living room near the main entrance. Residents can also enjoy a rest in that room’s new furnishings.

The nurses’ stations have also been opened up to allow enhanced visibility, and they fit in with the new décor.

“We have a very talented maintenance department who have helped make our renovations a success. We really appreciate all of them,” Starkey said. “The residents, families, and staff have all been very patient while we are renovating and we are thankful for that too!”
