Earthquakes
Earthquakes are often in the news now. Have you noticed? I’ve heard it said that there are more of them occurring with a greater frequency than have ever been recorded before.
To me this is both scary and exciting. Scary because we live close to the New Madrid fault, where a major earthquake occurred before, changing land, rivers, and forming huge lakes.
This is exciting to me because these happening are fulfilling the word of God. He gave the quakes as one of the signs that this world is not going to continue as it has forever, and that the earthquakes will continue and intensify as the time for the end gets closer.
There are several earthquakes recorded in the Bible, the most notable, being the one when Jesus died, and another, when He rose from the dead. You may read about each of them in Matthew 27:45,51 and 54, and in Matthew 28:2. The signs and happening of the end of time are spoken of several places in the Bible.
(Matthew 24:30) Then shall appear the sign of the Son in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn: and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heaven to the other.
(Luke 21:25-28) And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
