Leadwood Christmas Angels holds fundraiser
The Christmas Angels organization based in Leadwood is holding a fundraising auction on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at the Leadwood Fire House located at 1101 Mill St.
All proceeds from the auction will be used to buy Christmas gifts for children in need. Members of the non-profit group get information about families who could use some help at Christmas from the West County School District, including the children’s clothing size and their wish-list of toys or other items.
“We usually try to get each child a coat, hat and gloves and then something else they want to have,” said Christmas Angels Treasurer Mary Gilbert.
During the auction, attendees will be served Sloppy Joes, hot dogs, chips and drinks.
Prior to Christmas, the Leadwood Fire District and the Christmas Angels will be sponsoring a Christmas party for kids and their families, also at the fire house. Each year the party gets bigger with about 200 children in attendance at last year’s event.
The Christmas Angels is made up of 12 members and they hold their meetings at Mary’s Hair Styles and Tanning in Leadwood.
For more information on the event or to make a donation to Christmas Angels contact Ashley or Mary at 573-562-7250. The organization is asking that any donations not include clothing or shoes, but other gently used or new items are welcome.
