More details emerge in hit-and-run case
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is actively investigating the hit-and-run accident that killed 32-year-old Jennifer A. Tyler of Bonne Terre Wednesday night.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Juston Wheetley at about 11:30 p.m. Tyler was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 67 at Route Y.
“She was walking and we believe she was attempting to cross U.S. 67,” said Wheetley. “She had crossed the southbound lanes and was attempting to cross the northbound lanes when she was struck. The vehicle fled the scene.”
An autopsy was performed Friday afternoon and they were able to get some evidence off of Tyler’s clothing. They believe they may know what kind of vehicle was involved but they are not releasing that information at this time pending further investigation.
Wheetley added that they have been receiving tips and have been following up on some credible leads and hope to have more information shortly.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol asks anyone with any information to call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 636-300-2800. Trooper Alex Shipley is the investigating officer in the case.
