MAC to hold annual Christmas Celebration
With an eye toward celebrating the coming holidays and offering holiday cheer to the community, Mineral Area College staff members are planning the community college’s annual Christmas Celebration that will take place from 5 to 6 p.m., Dec. 1, in the concourse area of the Arts and Sciences Building.
The event is free and open to the public.
Connie Hester, classified staff president, said they will have the annual tree lighting, holiday music, refreshments, and a chance to “win big” by purchasing tickets to win a Christmas tree decked out with lottery tickets. Proceeds will go to the women’s shelter in Bonne Terre.
“MAC employees look forward to the Christmas Celebration every year,” Hester said. “We enjoy spreading good cheer to the community, and seeing the children’s faces light up when Santa makes his appearance.
“We’ll have performances from MAC’s Jazz Band and Choral Choir, courtesy of Michael Goldsmith and Harry Cecil, instructors from our talented music department. Mrs. Claus will read ‘The Night Before Christmas,’ and for the grand finale, Santa Claus will make his grand entrance. Of course, he won’t arrive empty-handed; he’ll certainly have surprises for all of the children.”

Santa and Mrs. Claus will once again make an appearance at this year’s Christmas Celebration and tree lighting being held from 5-6 p.m. Dec. 1, in the concourse area of Mineral Area College’s Park Hills campus.
