Three Christmas events planned for Saturday

Three popular Christmas-themed activities taking place in the cities of Desloge, Bismarck and Ironton/Arcadia are on the calendar for Saturday. This weekend’s weather is calling for sunny skies and a high of 55, but as the evening approaches temperatures will begin to drop quickly, so it would be a good idea to dress warmly when attending any outside events.

Here’s an overview of dates, times and other information:

Christmas in the Park

“Christmas in the Park,” hosted by the Desloge Library Board, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. in Desloge City Park.

The annual free event features a craft-making area for the kids, attendance prizes and refreshments. Children will also be given the opportunity to share their Christmas list with Santa Claus.

The always popular horse-drawn carriage ride offers guests a free tour of the park, adding a nostalgic feel to the event.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, co-sponsored by the city of Bismarck, Bismarck Chamber of Commerce and Depot Committee will take place beginning at 6 p.m. at the old train depot on East Main Street.

Along with the Christmas tree lighting, the event will feature holiday refreshments and music. There will also be the annual visit by Santa Claus who’ll be listening to Christmas wish lists and giving out goodies to children who drop by to pay him a visit.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a camera.

Santa’s Workshop Christmas Parade

The Santa’s Workshop Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Arcadia Valley Chamber of Commerce, begins at 5 p.m. and travels from the Town and Country grocery store to Thee Abbey in Arcadia.

The evening will feature float judging and prizes; area vendors; cookies and milk with Santa; a free ornament-making workshop with Santa’s elves; and a citywide scavenger hunt.

Carriage rides through Desloge City Park will be among the free activities offered at the city library board's annual Christmas in the Park taking place from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 3.
