Friday Club holds November meeting
The GFWC Friday Club met Nov. 20 at the Presbyterian Church with nine members in attendance.
After the pledges to the U.S. and Missouri flags, Margaret Miller introduced Pat Mertens from Ironton. Pat is a 9th District GFWC officer and she gave the program. She gave state updates and shared insightful information on recruiting new members. Pat was also honored to have a photo of hers chosen to represent our area and state in the National GFWC calendar for 2016. Her photo entitled “Autumn Love” was a beautiful lane in Arcadia with lovely fall foliage.
Margaret Miller gave a devotional entitled “Ponder This” about using our time well and enjoying it too. The minutes were approved as read. Due to the absence of Betty Schmale there was no treasurer’s report. Several thank you notes were also received by the club for co-hosting the successful District GFWC convention. The Club voted to sponsor the Azalea Prince and Princess Pageant again this next May.
Refreshments provided by Reva Honea and Linda Hogan were enjoyed by all. Members were reminded that the December meeting will be on the 18th at 10:30 a.m. at Follis Hall with all members bringing finger foods and a Chinese switch gift. Representative Shelley Keeney will be the speaker. The meeting ended with the reciting of the club collect.
