Police investigate assault
The Bonne Terre Police Department responded to the 400 block of North Allen Street on Monday night for a domestic disturbance.
Bonne Terre Police Chief Doug Calvert said a female assaulted a male.
“I’m not sure how he was assaulted at this time, but he was struck in the eye and received an eye injury,” said Calvert. “… It was some sort of a domestic disturbance.”
Calvert said the family requested the victim be flown by air ambulance. All area air ambulances declined the call. Calvert said he wasn’t sure if it was because of the weather.
“From what I understand, EMS didn’t request the flight,” said Calvert. “The injury wasn’t that bad, but it was bad enough to seek felony charges.”
Calvert said they will turn the case over to the county prosecutor’s office and ask for a felony second-degree assault charge.
No names are being released at this time.
