Trivia, auction to raise funds for New Beginnings

A trivia party and silent auction to raise funds for New Beginnings Community Services is being held beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, but it’s recommended that participants arrive a little earlier in order to get settled in.

The event is being sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 1088, located at 7897 Berry Road in Bonne Terre.

There’s a $10 fee for each participant and groups can total up to 10 in number. Preregistration is appreciated, but not necessary. Refreshments will be available.

Kathy Grogan, New Beginnings director, said she appreciates the Knights of Columbus as well as local businesses who have made donations of items to the silent auction.

“The Knights of Columbus has held this for the last several years and we really appreciate it,” she said. “We also couldn’t put on this event without the wonderful items we’ve been given for the silent auction. I can’t say how grateful we are.”

New Beginnings offers a number of free services to the community, including its grief and loss program and medical equipment loan program.

“This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year so we really rely on this,” Grogan said. “We have just recently moved from our Park Hills location to the Shared Blessings campus at 518 Grove St. in Bonne Terre, so the extra financial boost is greatly needed at this time.”
