P.E.O. awards scholarships

The Farmington P.E.O. Chapter H.J. presented five $1,000 scholarships to local individuals attending Mineral Area College.

Those receiving the scholarships were Brittany Westbrook of Park Hills, Kaylynn Haesemeyer of Farmington, Angela Brooks of St. Mary, Jennifer Walter of Washington County, and Rebecca Tyler of Fredericktown.

According to the website peointernational.org, P.E.O. is a “philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.”

P.E.O., which stands for Philanthropic Educational Organization, has helped than 90,000 women through the organization’s educational grants, loans, awards, special projects and stewardship of Cottey College, which is located in Nevada, Missouri.
