A Piedmont man was killed Saturday in a collision with a pickup truck that took place at 6:12 p.m. at the junction of southbound U.S. 67 and Route JJ in St. Francois County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the front of a southbound 2007 Harley Davidson XL 1200 driven by Kory L. Terlaga, 59, of Piedmont, struck the right rear of a northbound 1994 GMC Sierra pickup driven into the motorcycle’s path by David M. Macke, 38, of Pevely, while the pickup was making a left turn onto Route JJ.
Terlaga was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene at 6:23 p.m. His body was transported to the St. Francois County Morgue and the next of kin notified.
The patrol reports that Teglaga was wearing a helmet and Macke had on a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Also, Francine C. Bunch, 51, of Park Hills received moderate injuries in a wreck that took place at 6:30 p.m. Friday when, according to the patrol, the northbound 2010 Chevrolet Equinox she was driving failed to negotiate a curve at Davis Crossing Road, north of Cochrane Road in St. Francois County.
The SUV ran off the right side of the roadway and, after Bunch overcorrected, it traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a utility pole and a tree.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, was transported to Parkland Health Center.
