Summer music festival kicks off with Garth Brooks tribute
If you’re looking for a taste of live music in a historical setting this summer, the 2016 Summer Music Series at the Orris Theater in Ste. Genevieve may be just the ticket.
Hosted by the Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce and featuring a variety of musical styles ranging from jazz, Motown, disco, soul, blues, rock, pop, country, bandstand favorites and tributes to the Beatles and Garth Brooks, the series is set to run June 3 through July 29.
“The Summer Music Series is really a wonderful opportunity to have exciting musical talent come to our area,” said Sandra Cabot, Ste. Genevieve’s director of tourism. “It really adds to the mix of things for people to do while they’re visiting Ste. Genevieve. We just couldn’t be more pleased about what the summer music series adds to our offering here.”
Now in its eighth season, the summer concert series brings regional and national touring acts to perform onstage at the Orris, a former movie theater renovated in the mid-1980s by owners of the adjacent Sirros Restaurant.
The first featured performer, scheduled for this Friday, will be Nathan Aaron Orr portraying Garth Brooks in his “Shameless: A Tribute to Garth Brooks” show.
Orr, a native of St. Louis, frequently performs in the St. Louis area with The Rough Riders cover band. Orr has been an area winner of the Colgate Country Showdown, now the Texaco Country Showdown, joining some of the biggest names in country music, including Brad Paisley, Sara Evans and Garth Brooks.
Tickets for Orr’s show are $20 if purchased in person from the chamber of commerce.
