‘Help the Hungry’ committee looking for recipes

The Help the Hungry Bake Sale is known for the tasty treats offered. Now, the committee is asking the community to share some favorite recipes as another way to help feed those in the area.

Linda Ragsdale is a member of the Help the Hungry committee and said the “Hometown Favorites” cookbook includes a variety of categories.

The group is looking for recipes under one of the following categories: Appetizers & Beverages; Soups & Salads; Vegetables & Side Dishes; Main Dishes; Breads & Rolls; Desserts; Cookies & Candy; This & That.

Ragsdale added anyone submitting a baked good recipe for an item donated to a previous bake sale should let the group know in order for the recipe to be highlighted.

There are more than 200 recipes already submitted, but the group is looking for more. The deadline to submit recipes for the cookbook is July 24.

Plans call for the cookbook to be available for purchase by the Help the Hungry Barbecue, scheduled for mid-October this year.

And, just like the bake sale, all proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks goes to the St. Vincent de Paul and Farmington Ministerial Alliance food pantries.

To submit a recipe or for more information, contact Ragsdale at 701-5525 or 756-7531.
