ICEP to hear business ideas at upcoming meeting

As part of a continuing effort to partner with local businesses geared toward tourism, Iron County Economic Partnership is wanting to hear from people who have creative ideas for new business ventures in the area.

ICEP is hosting a meeting at 6 p.m. June 30, in the Arcadia Valley Career Technology Center conference room, according Sandy Francis, director of Partnership Development.

“Visitors already travel to Iron County in large numbers and we want to provide them with additional reasons to shop, eat, play and stay here,” said Francis. “Think about the places you and your family like to visit on vacation or just on a scenic drive. Iron County residents will also benefit from new businesses that will provide more jobs and additional local resources. With the Whistle Junction Amtrak stop becoming a reality, we are also interested in businesses that will benefit travelers arriving by train. If you have a business idea, we want to hear from you.

“During the meeting, we want to discuss ideas, guide individuals with like business plans to work together and bundle inventive packages and get the momentum going for this great opportunity to increase economic activity and create jobs in Iron County,” Francis said. “Packages may include bundling lodging, transportation, recreation and shopping opportunities and discounts.

“Creating jobs is one of the requirements to receive ICEP funding based on IRS regulations for non-profit organizations. To this point we haven’t set any minimum number of jobs that will be created to qualify for funding, but the business must be economically viable and sustainable as well.”

RSVP no later than June 28 to make sure there is enough seating for everyone. Call 573-915-1569 or email sandy.francis@ictsf.org for additional information and/or to RSVP.
