U.S. Bank employee retires

An open house will be held at the U.S. Bank office at 214 Woodlawn Drive on June 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in honor of Debbie Downey who is celebrating her retirement after 23 years.

“We are very grateful for Debbie’s dedication,” said Melissa Hosna, branch manager. “She has made numerous lasting relationships with customers and coworkers and has been a great asset to the company as well as the community. We wish her well as she begins this new chapter in her life.”

Downey started her banking career in 1993 as a teller with what was then Mercantile Bank. She has been received numerous awards during her career, including U.S. Bank’s annual Star of Excellence award.

Downey has been involved in the community as an active member of the Elvins Baptist Church where she has taught Children’s Sunday School and was the Vacation Bible School director for five years.

Downey officially retires on June 30. During retirement, she plans on continuing her volunteer work, traveling and spending time with her three grandchildren.
