Accident takes woman’s life, two others injured

One woman was killed and two others injured in separate accidents over the weekend.

On Friday evening a Bonne Terre woman was killed when the car she was driving traveled off the road and struck a tree.

The accident happened on Pratt Road, west of Winch Road in St. Francois County, at 6:05 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened when a 1997 Ford Taurus driven by DeeRae E. Hale, 60, ran off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Hale was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Francois County Coroner James Coplin.

According to the patrol report Hale was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

In a one-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon, Melissa D. Hagermann, 40, of Cadet, received moderate injuries in a wreck that happened at 2:37 p.m. on Highway 8, half a mile east of Saturn Road in Washington County.

The patrol reported the accident occurred when a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Hagermann ran off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

She was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.

According to the patrol, Hagermann was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

In another accident at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a woman sustained minor injuries trying to avoid a deer on Highway 221 near Rock Springs Road in St. Francois County.

According to the patrol the accident happened when a deer ran into the path of the 2012 Nissan Versa driven by Constance M. Lewis, 65, of Farmington.

She was taken by St. Francois County Ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Farmington for treatment.

According to the patrol report Lewis was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
