Lonnie Shrum
GRANITEVILLE – Lonnie Guy Shrum, 84, born Apr 29, 1932, to Ted Shrum and Jetta (Clemonds) Shrum Hayes in Graniteville, MO, passed away at home in Osage Beach, MO, from complications of cancer. He served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. Lonnie was an insurance agent and realtor in Ironton, MO after his retirement from the Air Force. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Fryman) of Osage Beach and Madeira Beach, FL, daughter Cindy (Steve) Zeiler of Glenwood Springs, CO, grandchildren, Brett (Elisha) Zeiler (great-granddaughter Kylie Zeiler) of Springfield, MO, and Sabrina Zeiler, of Glenwood Springs, CO, and sister Jo (Fred) Schaper of Farmington, MO.
Lonnie’s favorite military assignments were in Hawaii and Florida, which related to his pastimes of fishing, gardening, and enjoying the water views. He was known for his sharp wit, sense of humor, practicality, the twinkle in his eyes, and his love for his family. Lonnie was a 32nd degree Mason, and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A very private person, Lonnie requested to have no formal services. He is to be inurned at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation in Lonnie’s memory may donate to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe St, Suite 100, Jefferson City, MO 65101
