MAC’s Fall Choral Concert set for Oct. 13
Mineral Area College’s Music Department will present its Fall Choral Concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13, at Desloge United Methodist Church, 800 S. Grant St.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Harry Cecil, director of choirs at MAC, said the Fall Choral Concert will be particularly interesting as it features North County High School’s Trebleaires, conducted by Allyn Rizo.
“It is an honor to open our concert season by sharing the stage with such a great music teacher in Ms. Rizo. She has an exceptional program at North County and produces even more exceptional students. Combining the concert with their women’s ensemble, the Trebleaires, will add an interesting variety in sound to an already awesome night of music.”
The theme for this fall’s concert is “Seasons in Song.” According to Cecil, MAC Choirs will present a different choral piece, each depicting one of the four seasons.
“What is unique about each piece is the exquisite poetry of the song,” he said. “The metaphors used to portray the whimsy of spring or the chill cold of winter are highlighted in each composer’s musical choices and text-music relationships.
“Through such a theme, we are able to present a lot of musical diversity on the concert. The audience is sure to be intrigued by the stark contrasts in repertoire combined under the umbrella of the four seasons.”
