Program offered on Missouri archives

Secretary of State Jason Kander announced a free program on the Missouri State Archives, presented by State Archivist John Dougan.

The 50-minute program will be held on Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. at the C. H. Cozean Library on the Mineral Area College campus (5270 Flat River Rd., Park Hills, MO 63601), and is open to students, faculty/staff and members of the community. Topics will include a short history of the archives, an overview of its records and research, and access strategies.

“The Missouri State Archives provides an invaluable resource for Missourians to learn about their local and family history,” Kander said. “I’m happy my office is able to offer this opportunity to help the people of Missouri benefit from our extraordinary collection.”

For further information on the program or Past Preserved: the 50th Anniversary of the Missouri State Archives, a traveling exhibit on display at the C. H. Cozean Library until November 29, 2016, contact Director Melissa Hopkins at 573-518-2177 or mhopkins@mineralarea.edu.
