City swears in new treasurer

Park Hills’ new city treasurer, Brandy Marler, may be new to the position, but she is not new to city government.

“I previously worked in the water department,” she said. “I was accounts payable clerk and then I became the billing clerk. I’ve worked here for a little over three years.”

Appointed to the position last month, Marler has already been getting acclimated to her new duties and was officially sworn in as city treasurer on Jan. 6. Her responsibilities include keeping the city’s books balanced and the bills paid, as well as making sure city employees are paid.

Marler has lived in Park Hills since 2005, but grew up in Bonne Terre and is a graduate of North County High School. She shares her home with two sons.

“I have two boys, one who graduates this year, and one’s in junior high,” she said.

In order to maintain her position as treasurer, Marler must complete a state certification process within a specified amount of time.
