Several injured in area crashes

A Belgrade man was moderately injured in a crash Wednesday at 8:20 p.m. on Highway 21 in Washington County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Owen Matthews, 25, was driving his 2007 Ford F-150 truck southbound on Highway 21 south of Benton Road when he failed to negotiate a left curve and his vehicle skidded off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Matthews was wearing his seat belt and taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital by Washington County Ambulance with moderate injuries.

Matthews was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

In another accident in Jefferson County, a Bonne Terre man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday at 6:47 p.m. on U.S. 67 at Papin Road.

According to the patrol report, Rodney Price, 66, of De Soto, was eastbound on Papin Road in his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the front left of a 2001 Lexus ES300 driven by Patrick Tullock, 69, of Bonne Terre, who was driving southbound on U.S. 67.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and Price was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by Joachim Plattin Ambulance. Tullock was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Survival Flight with serious injuries.

A Bloomsdale man was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday at 5:40 a.m. in Ste. Genevieve County.

According to the patrol report, Jason Abt, 33, was driving his 2003 Dodge Dakota truck northbound on Route M a half a mile north of Route J when he went off the right side of the road, over-corrected and his vehicle went off the left side of the road and overturned.

Abt was wearing his seat belt and was taken to Ste. Genevieve Hospital by the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District with moderate injuries.
