Earl J. Ames

PARK HILLS — Earl Ames, 89, of Park Hills, passed away January 19, 2017, at Country Meadows Care Center. He was born March 14, 1927, in Frankclay, to the late Clarence and Myrtle (Marler) Ames. Earl was an ordained minister since 1969 and he has pastored the Leadington, Twin Oak, Aulsbury Chapel, Scott City, and Richwoods Freewill Baptist. He was active in prison ministry and minister to several families in the area. Earl was an Army WWII Veteran who liked to garden and was an MCII bus driver for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Leola (Bowling) Ames; two children, Richard and Sandra Kay Ames; grandson, Scott Ames; three sisters, Pearl Ames, Marie Mayberry, Naomi Steinmetz; three brothers, Noah, Paul and Lester Ames.

Earl is survived by his wife, Della (Robinson) Ames; children, Barbara (Mrs. Gary) Lee of Fredericktown, and Lee Ann (Mrs. Vernon) Wilfong of Park Hills; daughter in-law, Patricia Ames of Farmington; stepson, David Behymer and wife Carol of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Shelley (Mike) Robinson, Brian (Nichole) Lee, Devin (Rae Ann) Lee, Megan Wilfong, and Tracy (Kurt) LaBruyere; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, January 22, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. The visitation will resume at the Leadington Freewill Baptist Church, Monday, January 23, 2017, at 9 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Reverend Larry Allison will be officiating.
