West County homecoming rescheduled for Saturday

The ice storm two weekends ago put a damper on many people’s plans, including the students at West County High School, whose homecoming basketball game had to be postponed.

The game, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 14, has been rescheduled for Saturday, along with the homecoming king and queen coronation ceremony.

The junior varsity game will start at 3 p.m. with the boys basketball team playing against the Caledonia Vikings, followed by the crowning of this year’s king and queen prior to the start of the varsity game.

Seven candidates are vying for homecoming queen with five students competing for king. Two more male students are serving as escorts for queen candidates.

Queen candidate Whitney Dee will be escorted by king candidate Jared Barnett. Taylor Reed is being escorted by Matthew Momot. Jamilyn Hedgecorth will be escorted by Jared Jones. Riley Hill is being escorted by Jacob Meinershagen and RikkiLyn Wright is being escorted by Brendan Pingel.

Queen candidate Carson McKee will be escorted by Nate Kinnard, who is not running for homecoming king. Reid Pratt, who is also not a candidate for king, will be escorting queen candidate Megan Blair.

High School Principal Eric Moyers said the homecoming dance will not be made up.
