Roundup: Lady Tigers advance to district final

PIEDMONT, Mo. – The Arcadia Valley girls basketball team will square off with Saxony Lutheran in the Class 3, District 2 championship game for a second straight year.

Senior forward Briar Johnson totaled 16 points and eight rebounds in her return from a sore knee, and the Lady Tigers defeated Twin Rivers 54-45 in the semifinal round on Monday night.

Jaesa Brockes scored 12 points to equal teammate Josie Landrum, and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds for top-seeded Arcadia Valley (22-5).

Jerrika Brockes added eight points, and Makayla Moise finished with six points and seven rebounds. AV increased a 27-19 halftime lead to 43-31 after three quarters.

The championship game is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday at Clearwater High School.

Poplar Bluff 58, Farmington 47

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. – Freshman Kiley Bess scored 16 of her 24 points in the second half, and Poplar Bluff rallied past visiting Farmington 58-47.

Poplar Bluff outscored the Knights 19-9 in the third quarter after trailing 28-25 at halftime. Autumn Dodd netted 15 points for the Lady Mules.

Junior forward Zoe Johns dropped in six field goals during the second quarter, and paced Farmington (11-12) with 22 points overall.

Alyson Tucker added eight points and Claire Busse had six in defeat.

Oran 88, Bismarck 41

PERRYVILLE, Mo. – Oran standout Leah Cauble tallied 32 points, nine assists and seven rebounds without seeing action in the fourth quarter on Monday evening.

The top-seeded Lady Eagles also received 17 points from Kaylee Payne, and eliminated Bismarck 88-41 from the Class 2, District 2 tournament at Perry Park Center.

Bismarck (10-13), which trailed 51-18 at halftime, was paced by senior guard Alyssa Sago with 13 points. The four-year varsity starter unofficially finished with 1,835 career points.

Brilee Henson added 11 points and Savannah Tate contributed seven in their final high school game for the Lady Indians.

Oran (24-3) will play Chaffee for the district title on Thursday.

Ste. Genevieve 63, Perryville 25

PERRYVILLE, Mo. – The Ste. Genevieve girls outscored Perryville 23-3 during the second quarter, and rolled to a 63-25 road victory.

Madison Reynolds netted 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, along with 12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the Dragons (17-7).

Avery Reed compiled her own double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Ste. Genevieve finished 16-of-27 from the line.

The Dragons entered halftime holding a 38-14 lead. Deryn Brown had seven points and Julia Boyer collected three steals in the win.

Kirsten Stief had nine points to pace Perryville (6-17).
