Serenity HospiceCare hosts reception for Life Changers

What could you do with two hours a month? If you are willing to invest just a little bit of your time, you could change the world for a hospice patient.

Serenity HospiceCare invites you to an informational reception on March 16 at 6:30 p.m. Join Volunteer Manager Jenna Firehammer and members of her volunteer team as they highlight what it means to be a volunteer with Serenity HospiceCare. There is no obligation to enroll; just drop by and learn more about Serenity’s rewarding volunteer opportunities. Enjoy refreshments, and information sharing from others who volunteer their time to benefit patients when they need us most. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about end-of-life care and hospice volunteering.

As the area’s only independent not-for-profit hospice agency, volunteers play a vital role at Serenity. There are a variety of volunteer positions available, ranging from reading and reminiscing with patients to doing clerical work in the office or calling Bingo at a nursing home, and much more. The amount of time a volunteer wants to give, and what activities they would like to do, is completely up to them.

“The volunteer open house will give caring individuals in our community the opportunity to learn about Serenity HospiceCare and our amazing volunteer program,” Firehammer said. “So many citizens are looking for a way to serve others who are in need and we want to make them aware of the ways they can touch lives by partnering with Serenity.”

The reception will be held at Serenity HospiceCare’s office, located at 5272 Flat River Rd., at the entrance to Mineral Area College.

To RSVP, call Volunteer Manager Jenna Firehammer at 431-0162.
