Charged with assaulting young girl

A Fredericktown man is facing domestic assault charges following an altercation with a 17-year-old female, that according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

Kyle Chipman, 25, of Fredericktown is charged with felony domestic assault in the second degree.

Madison County Sheriff’s Department Deputy James Neel reported he was called to Madison Medical Center on Feb. 23 to meet with the alleged victim in the emergency room.

Neel stated the victim reported severe pain in her left hand after an altercation with her boyfriend. X-rays performed at the hospital concluded her hand was not broken but severely sprained.

According to the report, she told Neel she had been arguing at home with Chipman. She said she then left the home to avoid further escalation. But, she said, Chipman tried to pull her phone from her hand by pulling her fingers back, past the range of natural motion.

Neel said when he later made contact with Chipman he offered no explanation for the young woman’s injuries, but denied her claims were true.

Chipman was booked into the Madison County Jail with a $25,000 cash only bond. At his Feb. 28 arraignment he entered a plea of not guilty. His next appearance in court will be March 13 for a case review.
