Two injured in crash Saturday

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded for the second time in just two days to an automobile accident that occurred at the same intersection.

According the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, officers responded to a three-vehicle crash on northbound U.S. 67 and Route Y at 11:18 a.m. on Saturday.

In the report, Thomas C. McDowell, 67, of French Village, failed to yield as he was attempting to cross northbound U.S. 67 and pulled into the path of Clifford R. King, 57, of Dittmer, who was driving a 2002 Ford F350 pickup.

King struck the side of McDowell’s vehicle causing a third vehicle driven by James Devoto, 44, of De Soto, to strike debris from McDowell’s vehicle.

McDowell was transported with moderate injuries to Parkland Health Center, Bonne Terre by St. Francois County Ambulance Service while an occupant in King’s vehicle, Megan K. McGrane, 31, of De Soto was transported with minor injuries by St. Francois County Ambulance to the same hospital.

According to the report, only the Devoto and McGrane were wearing safety belts during the time of the accidents.

The MSHP crash reports an accident occurred at the same intersection on March 30 requiring three victims to be transported to hospitals.
