Council approves requests for upcoming events

The Fredericktown City Council met April 24 for its regular meeting at City Hall and the following business was transacted.

In the work session before the meeting, the council approved a request from the Fredericktown JROTC Booster Club to use the SRT course for a fundraiser Aug. 26, pending the confirmation of insurance for the event.

After a brief update on this year’s Azalea Festival, the council approved the use of space and closing of city streets for the event, which will be May 5-7.

The council approved a travel request for the annual Municipal Court Clerk’s Conference on May 22-26 at Lake of the Ozarks. The council then went into closed session for two real estate matters.

Upon reconvening for the regular meeting, the council reviewed the City Administrator’s report as well as the monthly city financial report.

After brief discussion, the council reviewed and approved the renewal of annual liquor licenses to establishments in the city.

The council then passed an ordinance amending a section of the city statutes dealing with light and power, which was erroneously left out after the recent update to the city code book.

Alderman Paul Brown wished to express thanks to the committee that put the SEMO SWAT Challenge together, saying the event was a success despite the rain Friday and Saturday. Alderman Polete added credit was due to Missouri Governor Eric Greitens for sticking to his commitment to attend the event.

Having no additional closed session business, the council then adjourned. The next regular meeting of the Fredericktown City Council will be May 8 at City Hall, following the 5:30 p.m. work session.
