Passenger injured in crash

An Ironton man was injured in a one-car accident at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday on Highway N, two miles north of Pilot Knob in Iron County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck happened when a northbound 2000 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Bradley W. Johnston, 32, of Farmington, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree, overturned and caught fire.

A passenger in the SUV, Vernon V. Pouch, 42, of Ironton, was transported by ambulance to Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown where he was treated for moderate injuries.

The patrol report stated that neither Johnston or Pouch were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
