Charlie Williams
BELLEVIEW – Charles “Charlie” Williams, of Belleview, formerly of Elvins, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at Belleview Valley Nursing Home at the age of 82 years.
He was born on March 3, 1935, at Elvins son of the late Wilburn L. and Frances M. (Mullins) Williams. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Cathleen Nash.
Charlie grew up in and around Elvins. As a young man he worked for the Eggert Farm at Bismarck and later worked for McClain’s Grocery Store at Elvins. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed listening to the radio and was an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan.
He is survived by a nephew, Joel Lawson of Park Hills; three nieces, Delores Sumpter of Desloge, Vera Thebeau of Mineral Point and Debbie Strobl of Ballwin; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and his many friends at Belleview Valley Nursing Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Layne Cemetery in Elvins under the direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Memorials may be made to the Layne Cemetery. Share your memories and leave condolences online at cozeanfuneralhome.com
