Camelot thanks first responders

“This time we serve you.”

That was the greeting to Farmington Police and Fire Departments and the County Ambulance District staff on a recent invitation they received from Camelot Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

“We just randomly selected Thursday, June 8 as a day to say ‘Thank You’ to those who are on call 24/7 for any serious or potentially critical situation, said Camelot administrator Ron Robinson. “We had earlier delivered invitations to the staffs of those response units to stop by during the day at our facility on 705 Grand Canyon in Farmington to pick up a boxed lunch and a cold bottle or two of water. We encouraged them to take extras for their office staffs also. Mike Johnson and his Subway crew prepared the 50-plus lunches for us that we distributed that day between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“It wasn’t for any particular emergency situation,” Robinson said, “we just wanted to let them know we appreciate their continuous professional service. For a facility like Camelot, it’s reassuring to know that we can always count on their prompt response and assistance when it’s needed. We depend upon them to be available whenever we need them, whether it’s for a fire drill, safety inspection, a transport to a hospital, or a potentially serious or dangerous circumstance. They never fail us.”

The responders who stopped that day all expressed their surprise and appreciation for the unexpected treat.

“We just felt it was a small way to turn the serving of others around to thank these outstanding professionals,” Robinson said.
