Fall registration a breeze at MAC
PARK HILLS – Summer is almost here and Mineral Area College is gearing up for the upcoming semester of fall classes, which begins with evening classes on Aug. 21 due to the solar eclipse activities taking place on campus, and Aug. 22 for day classes.
Registrar Pam Reeder said even though summer’s just beginning, the time is right to register for fall.
“Even though fall registration has been in progress since March 29, space is still available in many classes,” she said. “The sooner students enroll, the more options they have.” Fall class offerings are available online through “course search” at www.MineralArea.edu.
Reeder said Mineral Area College is a high-quality, affordable, and convenient choice for higher education, allowing many students to live at home while attending classes. In addition to the traditional classroom offerings, MAC has experienced ever-increasing interest in web classes among students. To meet the demand, the college has added to the variety and number of class sections offered online. Many classes are also offered at night and through interactive television in a MAC classroom.
In addition to the full, 16-week semester, MAC classes are available in a 4-, 6-, and 8-week sessions for those who need to pick up additional credit hours during the semester. The first 8-week session begins Aug. 21 or 22 and ends Oct. 13, while the second 8-week session begins Oct. 16 and ends Dec. 8.
“Many students who attend MAC are looking for an accelerated class at a reduced price,” Reeder said. “There’s also a better chance of smaller class sizes and one-on-one attention compared to four-year universities.”
To schedule an advising appointment, students should call 431-4593 between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Fridays. Anyone planning to start college and attend MAC for the first time should call the Admissions Office at 518-2228 to get started.
Students interested in attending classes at one of MAC’s outreach centers may contact the main campus in Park Hills or contact a coordinator at one of the following outreach centers: Farmington, Andrea Richardson at 701-1310 ext. 2139; Fredericktown, Saundra Ivison at 573-783-7932; Perryville Higher Education Center, Mary Bauwens at 573-547-4143; Potosi, Judy East at 573-438-3479 before 3 p.m. or 573-438-2156 ext. 26 after 5 p.m.
