Car and bike show benefits girl

With the hope to bring awareness to kidney disease and to lend a helping hand to a member of the community, the Raelynn Winick Benefit Car and Bike Show was held Saturday at 300 Woodlawn Drive in Leadington.

“We really had two purposes for today’s car show,” said Josh Grant, the event coordinator. “We wanted to help a member of the community out whose daughter has kidney issues and to bring awareness of kidney disease as well.”

Proceeds from the event will assist Raelynn Winick, the daughter of Leadington Mayor Dustin Winick, as she recovers from kidney complications.

According to Dustin, his daughter became sick in August and after 10 days in Cardinal Glennon Hospital, she was diagnosed with with Acute Tubular Necrosis, a kidney disease that will affect her the rest of her life.

In addition to the proceeds raised from the entries fees of the car and bike show, the organizers of the event sold T-shirts. Shirts are still available at the Leadington Pit Stop.
