Pruneau leads Post 83 past Rock Memorial

STE. GENEVIEVE – Sean Pruneau turned in an impressive outing to help lead Bonne Terre eliminate Rock Memorial from the Senior Legion District 13 tournament late Wednesday.

Pruneau finished with 12 strikeouts, allowed five hits, and faced the minimum in four of his 7 1/3 innings on the mound. He also went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and a double.

Post 83 gained an advantage in the three-game season series against Rock Memorial with a 19-7 victory through eight innings.

Bonne Terre (6-9) will advance to play De Soto in another elimination game on Thursday.

Briley Smith, Dylan Kater and Matt Momot each ended with two hits for Bonne Terre. Jared Jones added a double, while Karson Kekec and Dawson Harper recorded singles.

Harper closed the game and retired the only two batters he faced in the eighth, striking one out.

David Lawson worked the first 3 1/3 innings for Rock Memorial, and gave up four hits with 10 runs. Jeremy Mossman relieved the remainder of the game and fanned five while allowing nine runs.

Post 283 earned just three of its seven runs, as Bonne Terre committed four costly defensive errors.

Rock Memorial entered the second inning down 5-0, but three errant throws from Post 83 brought the difference within 5-3 heading into the third.

Jake McGilvery and Lawson each finished with an RBI single to lead the Post 283 offense. Jason Lynn also had a hit.

Bonne Terre notched five runs in a huge fifth inning to widen the lead to 10-4. Pruneau sparked the inning with an RBI single up the middle.

Post 283 later allowed two runs on two wild throws. Bonne Terre then loaded the bases and Kekec scored from third on a wild pitch. Eli Claywell also crossed the plate on a bases-loaded walk.

Rock Memorial answered with its biggest inning by scoring three in the fifth to make the deficit 10-7. The rally was keyed by a two-base, two-run error on a dropped fly ball in left field.

Post 83 tallied five insurance runs during the top of the eighth frame to ensure the win.

Bonne Terre finished with 14 hits, while Post 283 posted five.
